After your swim sessions finish each day, you won’t be stuck wondering what to do. Whether you fancy a gentle walk, dipping into local history, browsing shops or enjoying a nice meal or drink — there’s something for everyone.
Located halfway between the vibrant cities of Portsmouth and Southampton, Fareham offers a perfect blend of small-town charm and easy access to coastal and historic attractions - ideal for a few restful days after a full morning of swimming.
In town you’ll find a welcoming High Street with a mix of pretty historic buildings and a modern pedestrianised shopping area. There are around 300 shops, plenty of cafés, pubs and restaurants — an easy choice if you want a relaxed evening out, or to stock up on snacks before heading out.
Nature-lovers will enjoy a visit to Titchfield Haven National Nature Reserve — a lovely wetland reserve just a short drive away. Its mix of marshes, woodland and water attracts lots of birds, and it’s a peaceful place for a quiet walk or a chance to breathe in the fresh air.
For a taste of history and something a little different, the nearby Royal Armouries – Fort Nelson (on the outskirts of Fareham) offers an atmospheric trip back in time. The fort’s ramparts, tunnels and displays make it a fascinating outing for anyone interested in military history or just a memorable excursion.
If you’re up for a short drive, the iconic harbour city of Portsmouth is nearby: historic dockyards, piers, seafront strolls, interesting museums — all within easy reach and perfect for a day trip.
